Bio:
​Aleksei Martyniuk is an interdisciplinary artist, filmmaker and university lecturer. Aleksei holds a Master's Degree in Design and Digital Art.
The artist uses a wide range of modern digital technologies and techniques, but he doesn’t put them on a spotlight – they are only supporting elements for the implementation of ideas. Even those artworks of Aleksei that involve 3D or AI are frame by frame edited and refined, so, despite their computer-generated nature, they remain to be «hand crafted».
His video artworks have been showcased at over 60 international festivals, exhibitions and biennales.

Artist statement:
​Aleksei Martyniuk in his artistic practice, often works with the theme of cyclicity and its possible forms. Understanding of the classic film narrative's structure opens the opportunities for experimentation with it. «Loop» as one of the artistic techniques, becomes one of the main tools of the artist. The repetition of various phenomena allows to manipulate the audience's attention through new plot constructions. Linear screen time in his video artworks becomes looped and endlessly repeating but revealing new sides of it. The usual idea of such parts of the narrative as exposition, plot, climax, and denouement are getting destroyed - all these blocks are displaced and merged. At the same time, each fragment/episode is self-sufficient and conveys its own idea, however, when combined into a looped story, they generate schemes, symbols and meanings that comment, supplement and rethink what the viewer has already seen or will see again. The loop does not create a «perfect cycle» that could be described as going in a circle, but rather creates a slightly distorted repetition where new relationships between past, present, and future are established and temporal obscurity is introduced.

Pre diction
Deepfake and voice cloning tools have become a common thing. Currently, these technologies are primarily used for content creation, but as they become more advanced and accessible, inevitably there will be the abuse of their capabilities. As we all know, information on the Internet, especially on social media, spreads immediately - any verification can wait. At this point of my artistic career, I can’t call myself an interesting figure for the internet scammers, nor have I acquired any adversaries in the professional community. However, predicting the possible negativity towards me, I have decided to speak up in advance and critically look at the problem.
